Developer Help & FAQ

Straight answers about publishing, credits, payments, and review — grounded in exactly how Cruze Games works today.

Getting started

How do I start publishing on Cruze Games?

Sign in on the Developer dashboard with Google or email, read and accept the Developer Publishing Standards, then create a project. You can save drafts privately at any stage — nothing is public until you submit it for review and it's approved.

What can I publish?

Two content types today: playable games (a zip bundle with an index.html entry point) and downloadable assets. Both need cover art before you can save or submit them.

What file requirements does an upload have to meet?

Game uploads must be a .zip containing an index.html file. Certain file types are blocked outright (PHP, executables, server config files, and similar) both at the top level and inside the zip, and the system checks for path-traversal and symlink tricks. The default size limit is 50 MB per upload, though this is configurable — check your project's upload form for the current limit.

Upload credits & payment

Why do I need to pay to upload?

Every accepted game or asset upload consumes one upload credit, which you buy through checkout. This is a platform fee that funds hosting, validation, and review — it's separate from any revenue share on sales or tips.

How much does an upload credit cost?

As of the date on our Terms of Service: UGX 5,000 per game-upload credit and UGX 2,500 per asset-upload credit (or the converted equivalent in your account's currency). Your Monetization panel shows the exact current price before you pay.

I paid but my upload was rejected. Did I lose my credit?

No. A credit is only consumed once your upload passes validation and is accepted. If validation rejects the file (wrong structure, blocked file type, missing index.html, and so on), the reserved credit is released back to your account automatically — you can fix the issue and try again without paying twice.

Do I get any free credits?

Yes — every 5th successful upload-fee payment currently earns a one-time bonus of one free game-upload credit and one free asset-upload credit. Bonus credits work exactly like paid ones.

How does payment actually work?

Checkout is handled by PesaPal (mobile money, card, or bank). After you pay, our servers independently verify the transaction status directly with PesaPal before crediting your account — a redirect back to our site is never treated as proof of payment by itself, which protects you and us from forged or premature confirmations.

How do I get a receipt?

Every confirmed payment appears in your Monetization panel's payment history, where you can download a receipt or have it emailed to your signed-in account's address. Emailing requires your account to have a verified email (Google or email sign-in) — guest or phone-only sessions should use download instead.

What's the revenue share if my game sells or gets tips?

Tips: you keep 90% of net value after provider costs. Paid game or asset purchases: you keep 85%. Upload credits, sponsored placement, and jam sponsorship are platform services rather than developer sales, so those are billed at 100% to Cruze Games. See the full breakdown in our Terms of Service.

Review & moderation

What happens after I submit for review?

Your project's status moves to pending review. It stays private until a moderator approves it — approval, rejection, hiding, or restoring content are all actions our review process can take. We don't currently publish a fixed review turnaround time; if a submission has been pending an unusually long time, reach out to support.

Why might my submission be rejected or delayed?

Common reasons: content you don't own the rights to, misleading metadata or screenshots, a game that requests data or permissions it shouldn't (see the security rules below), or something that doesn't match the store's quality bar (broken controls, no working entry point, unclear description). You can edit and resubmit after fixing the stated issue.

What are uploaded games not allowed to do?

Uploaded games must remain static browser games. They must not request credentials, collect sensitive personal data, impersonate Cruze Games, or try to break out of the sandboxed player frame they're served in. Games run from an isolated host, separate from the main store's sessions and payment flows, and are additionally sandboxed at the player level — but the content rules apply regardless.

Where do the full rules live?

The complete Developer Publishing Standards are shown and must be accepted during developer sign-up — they cover content ownership, security, privacy, review, and payment conduct in more detail than this FAQ. Our general Terms of Service and Privacy Policy apply alongside them.

Your account

Can I share my developer account with a team member?

We ask that you don't. Publishing, payments, and payout details are all tied to one accountable account, and sharing credentials makes it hard to sort out disputes or fraud claims later.

How do I delete my developer content or account?

Contact team@cruzegames.store with your request. Note that payment and payout records may need to be retained for a period for accounting and legal reasons even after content is removed — see Data Sharing in our Privacy Policy.
